May 2, 2016

Palma, 30 April 2016.- The Mayor of Palma, José Hila, and the vice-president of the Government and Innovation, Research and Tourism adviser, Biel Barceló have visited Playa de Palm this morning where they met with representatives from the area's neighbourhood associations in order to analyse the start of the tourist season.

Both Hila and Barceló wanted to show their desire to attack drunken tourism and the bar crawls planned in the area on all fronts. "We will be inflexible with individuals or businesses that do not respect municipal by-laws and breach the peace or disturb public order," said the Mayor of Palma. He also added that "we will be uncompromising out of respect for the residents and the tourists who visit us and in order to preserve Playa de Palma's image."

For this weekend, the Local Police have planned a special police presence in anticipation of some events scheduled in Playa de Palma.

The head of the Balearic Tourism Agency, Pere Muñoz, also attended the meeting along with the councillor for Tourism, Trade and Employment, Joana María Adrover; the councillor for Citizen Safety, Angélica Pastor; and the councillor for the Centre, Playa de Palma and Pla de Sant Jordi districts, Lorenzo Carrió. The meeting was also attended by the head of Palma's Police, Major Bravo, and representatives from neightbourhood associations.
